Literature Fund

Literature Fund

At Central Office, we frequently receive requests for complimentary literature to be given to members and meetings/home groups. In the past, we have not been able to facilitate these requests, as we do our best to remain operational as a nonprofit business while also adhering to the Traditions of our Twelve Steps program.

As our members have shown time and time again throughout the history of our fellowship, where there’s an aligned will, there’s a way.

Origin Story of the Literature Fund

The 2024 DAAY in the Park 50/50 chairperson and event planning committee put forth the idea to Central Office that we could use the other half of the 50/50 winnings to provide A.A. literature to members and meetings in need of support and books.

Of the $434 in 50/50 winnings, $300 founded the home group and member-focused Literature Fund.

The other $134 was contributed to a T&C Literature Fund that provides literature to correctional facilities and treatment centers via the Service Board T&C committee.

Logistics of the Literature Fund

Funds contributed to Central Office for the Literature Fund will be held in a separate customer account on our Square retail platform. When members or home groups request assistance with purchasing copies of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous or the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, those requests now can be fulfilled from any contributions available in the Literature Fund.

We will report contributions from meetings and home groups for the Literature Fund as we report contributions for splits each month in the Bulletin (though members, meetings, and home groups may also remain anonymous in their contributions).

We will also report quarterly on the activities of this fund, including contributions to the fund as well as the numbers of books provided by the Literature Fund to our community in that quarter.

We hope this effort provides our regional fellowship with another opportunity to carry the message of hope and recovery to our community.
